1964 GALAXIE 500 IHRA RACE CAR
This is a drag car that was built for the 1/8 mile, it has a 428 engine with 428 CJ heads, 435 cid- 500HP, Cam is Crowler 616/600 lift part number 16333, 30 over TRW 12.5 forged pistons and C-6 six clutch Racing Transmission with 5000 rpm stall converter, line lock, TCI trans Brake. The ratio in the 9 inch rear-end has a 6.20 gear with strange axles and aluminum strange 3rd member, the rear end has been narrowed and the body was tubed, Tires are M/T 14X32 on rear with 13.5 weld wheels and 3.5 on the front. Rack and pinion was installed. Fuel cell and new batteries are in the trunk.
It has a fiberglass hood from Crites and rear deck lid, also the front and rear bumpers are from Crites. The rear glass is Lexan. The body is very solid and was like that before the work was started. The interior has aluminum door panels and interior trim panels. The roll cage is IHRA legal and the car goes straight, it has run 7.38 in the 1/8 mile.
The car ran at the IHRA Winter Nationals in Darlington SC. a few years ago. I have watched this car being built and was there when it ran its first race when it had a 4 speed in it. Very nice car as is or it can be taken to the next level very easy. All decals can be removed.
