Vehicle Description:

1965 Mustang Fastback Shelby GT 350 GT-1 Re-creation

This is a 1965 A Code Fastback that has gone through a complete restoration of the body. The car was changed over to look like a GT-1 Shelby GT 350. It was built to be the best handling and have the most horse power available with a specially built 351 Windsor engine that has been stroked out to 418 with 609 horse power at 6800 rpm’s. (I have invoices for most of the parts that were used in the restoration) This is an unbelievable restoration! The money that was spent is well over 30K just in parts - not counting the price of the car or any labor. The total spent was well over 70K to build this “ultimate show car”/“super race car”, and a car that can be driven on the street. The car is not for the faint of heart - it is a very high performance car! If desired, it could be raced in HSR; NASA American - AIX class; or it can be drag raced! No matter how this car is used, it is a Great Show Car!

Engine: The 351 Windsor is stroked out to 418. It has Dart aluminum heads that were ported and flowed to the max. The rods are Eagle and the crank is Eagle-CRS-435140006200 (cost $692.00). I have invoices on most of the engine parts, too long to list here. The engine was dynoed at 609 hp with the 950 CFM Holley race carburetor. (I have the blue print information on it). The intake was opened up to match the heads. It even has the rear mount water hose to flow water between the heads - these are stainless steel braided. It has the Canton road race oil pan and a very large oil filter with braided steel lines going to it. The cam is a roller cam from Doug Herbert performance parts with a 624/640 lift; duration is 283/291; center lobe is 108 degrees; the part number is CJ6K (B). It has a Canton windage tray and main support. The rocker arms are Comp-cams Ultra-Gold, along with Comp-rocker arms stud girdle kit. Please call me for more information on engine.

Transmission: The transmission is a Ford top loader with the big input shaft of 1-3/8 from Dan Williams. It was completely rebuilt for the horse power that the engine would be putting out. It has the blow proof bell housing as well and hyd release bearing. The shifter rods are all Nascar type heim joints and Hurst shifter. It even has the breather tube mounted at fire wall.

Suspension: The front and rear have coil over QA1 adjustable shocks. The front end has tuber upper and lower control arms and rack & pinion. The rear end has a four link with reinforced 9 inch housing, Detroit locker and the (N) case 3.91 gears and 31 spine axles (Bullet proof). It has the Daytona bearing retainer. The wheels are American TORQ-THRUST D’S WITH G-FORCE DRAG RADIALS on rear and 15X7 TORQ-THRUST “D” on front.

Interior: The interior was completely restored including all dash bezels, for lights, wipers, ignition, new glove box door, new dash pad, instrument cluster, all new gages and tach. Wiring is done with Painless wiring harness and fuse box is located in glove box. New roll bar with Nascar padding was installed along with RJS seat belts. The Shelby package tray was used and spare tire is mounted there. All door panels, arm rests, and weather stripping were installed. New heater box and heater core are in place but the heater core is not connected but can be. The inside door handles and window handles are new, along with sunvisors and mirror. Headliner is new; the seats are new with adjustable tracks; carpet is new along with kick panels. It has the radio delete panel installed. Simply - the interior is just NEW!!

Body: The paint and body work are of show quality! It has been restored to perfection - the paint and stripes are also show quality. It has fender flares that were done the best I have ever seen - the body is straight. New doors and fenders were used to make this car Great! The fuel tank is a racing fuel cell with aluminum housing and electric fuel pump. The racing apron is the best made and fits perfectly. All lights work including interior, dash and turn signals.

This is one of the best Shelby re-creations that I have had - I have sold over 13 of these cars in the past nine years; this one is the BEST so far! It has unbelievable workmanship and quality. If you are looking for the best - this is it!! It drives great, and runs even better. The options that are available for use of this car are MANY!! Only 2500 miles have been driven since the restoration and that was to work out any bugs; it does not have any! It would cost me at least 90K to build this car. The past owner has done all of the labor on the engine, the body and the paint. With his connections at some Nascar shops, he was able to build a superb car. He is a certified welder by trade and has done restoration work most of his life. When you see this car, you will agree with me - he is a perfectionist!!!!!
