1967 Ford Shelby GT500 Clone 1967 GT-500 Shelby clone Fastback 428, 5 Speed. This is a very nice GT-500 Shelby clone with a 428 that was rebuilt to 428 CJ specs. The 5 speed is a world class T-5 along with a new drive shaft. The 5 speed transmission makes for a great car to drive!! Body: The body is a 67 mustang fastback that was stripped to the bear metal and the best materials was used in the restoration of the body which was in great shape, it being a San Jose CA. The motor compartment was sand blasted and the same URO primer was used on it as the body. The Shelby Parts were fitted to the solid body and a very nice red paint job was done. The restoration was done over a 5 to 6 year period. I have invoices the go back to 1996 and some up to when it was finished in 2002. A mustang restoration shop in Monterey CA. done most of the restoration. The paint has a few defects but it is still a very nice paint job and those defects can be Easley fixed. Interior: The Shelby clone has the deluxe interior and it has the correct Shelby dash trim along with new interior when the restoration was done. This is just some of the parts that were used in the restoration, dash pad, carpet with fold down, brushed aluminum dash panels and instrument cluster bezel and door panel trim, Kick panels with speakers built in them and dual dash speakers also. The radio is a new custom Auto unit with AM/FM cassette. Headliner also has been replace along with the seat covers, scuff plates, wind lace, sun visor’s, all weather stripping around doors, roof rail, trunk, hood to cowl seal, vent glass and vent glass runners. Suspension: The suspension has been completely rebuilt. The power steering has not been completed but that will be done here. It has a rebuilt control valve and slave cylinder and new tie rod ends but the pump has not been installed. It has new front springs and shocks and spring seats. The front end needs nothing. The power disc-brakes also have been rebuilt and any thing that it needed was done with the best parts available. The rear end is a 9” inch 3.50 traction lock, the traction bars are the Shelby under rides and there chrome. The wheels are the Shelby ten spokes and the tires are BFGoodrich T/A’s and the sizes are 265x50xR15 on the rear and fronts are 225x50xR15. Engine: the engine is a 428 block and the heads are 428. The motor has main caps studs and chrome moly rings with forge pistons, bronze guides and harden push rods along with New set of CJ valves, the heads and intake were port matched to CJ size, a 4 angle valve job was done. The oil system was reworked and harden valve seats were installed, a true roller timing chain was installed and it was balanced also. The hooker headers are chrome and they have the better ball connector design, No Leaks!! The radiator is a 3 row so it keeps the motor cool and it has new hoses. The carburetor is a new Holley 650 double pumper along with the aluminum intake. The cobra valve covers really look good on a 428!! This is a very nice Shelby clone, the work that was put into this car took 5 to 6 years to complete and it shows! I have driven this car myself and the power and torque will get this car moving! The 5th gear is just prefect for the highway and it PULLS great. The speedometer is not hooked up since the T-5 Trans have been installed. With the price of real Shelby’s going up!! The clones also have gone up, but there are the most fun car to drive and enjoy.
